The latest Pew Global Attitudes survey is out, and it has some interesting numbers on China. The perception of China is still mostly positive, but the high support the country has enjoyed in recent years is softening. While majorities in most of the nations surveyed still say China’s economic influence is positive, there are doubts about its military. And in two of China’s key neighbors, India and Japan, the positive attitudes from just a few years ago have dropped significantly.
For sake of comparison, global attitudes towards the U.S. are still very negative in general. Waging a disastrous war can do that. So when it comes to squandering international goodwill, China is still a far cry from the U.S.
