Xinjiang Attack: More to Come?

As we and many others have written, the bright light of Olympic publicity draws groups to it like moths to the proverbial flame, so the below isn’t surprising. The number of deaths is though. Presumably these are the guys training with Al Qaeda linked groups across the border in Pakistan we wrote about earlier. Hard to judge how much of a pall this will cast over the Games. May be a sign of things to come, I am afraid. There will be a good deal of coverage, which will of course encourage more attacks.

URUMQI, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) — Sixteen policemen were killed and 16 others were injured after a border patrol armed police division in northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region was raided Monday morning.

Two attackers, who drove a tip lorry to break into the police station in Kashi at about 8 a.m. were arrested, according to the police source.

They threw two grenades, causing explosion.
