China’s President Hu Jintao is headed to Washington next week for a Nov. 15 summit of the world’s largest economies. It’s not clear yet if president-elect Barack Obama will participate in the meeting to discuss the global financial crisis, and the AP reports that Chinese officials were noncommittal about whether Hu and Obama would meet. Yesterday Obama spoke by phone with leaders of nine nations including Taro Aso of Japan and South Korean President Lee Myung-bak. Hu wasn’t on the list. Seems like if the two got together they could find something to talk about, maybe capturing the youth vote or online fundraising or possibly the massive economic problems their two countries are facing.
