This is not a shot of China’s latest space launch but the newly completed Guomao Phase II Tower lit up for the new year. Or possibly an SOS to an aliens who actually understand how our ailing economy works. There don’t seem to be many of us earthlings around who fall into that category these days. As President Elect Obama said in an excellent recent interview for Time’s person of the year issue, “economists are all over the map on this.”
On a more optimistic note, here the tower and the CCTV headquarters bathed in the rosy, hopeful light of dawn on the first day of 2009. May it be a happy, healthy and possibly even somewhat prosperous one for all our readers.
