This Beijing-based rights advocate is married to activist Hu Jia, a close friend and associate of Chen Guangcheng. Zeng Jinyan has been a constant source of news on Chen since he arrived in the capital. In a series of Twitter posts May 2, she revealed Chen felt forced to accept the U.S.-brokered deal and may have agreed to the plan out of fear for his friends and family. The following day the AFP reported that Zeng had been placed under house arrest. She told Radio Free Asia May 8 that she remained under home detention and could not give interviews.
