A day after Kim Jong Un’s marital status was officially announced, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) released images of North Korea’s Supreme Leader touring an amusement park with his blushing new bride, Ri Sol Ju, in Pyongyang. Political analysts say it’s a carefully orchestrated publicity stunt to project an image of a modern, stable man who is not shrouded in mystery.

Sometimes it seems that the US wants use smear tactics on NK. I mean, what can tehy do right? They don't show up, and you say they are shrouded in mystery, they come out, and you say its a show. Give it a rest!
NICE PERSON?! that is definitely what north korea is trying to make you think. I can't believe after all the history and ongoing brutality in north korea that anyone would call that dictator a nice person. He grew up brainwashed by the teachings of north korea especially his father and grandfather we all know as not so nice people. Just seeing his face makes me angry.

Unlike his father, he's letting women appear in public with skirts above their knees.
They all used to dress like the woman in black on the right.
Maybe this is a good sign? Possibly just a cheap diversionary tactic.

Hey Kim - Since you're the head of the goofy-state of North Korea, you don't need to lay off the proletariat poundcake to keep your bride, but you might want to try out of respect for the fact that she is much much much much much much much much much much much much

I really hope this man's Western education makes him compelled to facilitate a drastic societal and governmental change to his country, but I doubt it. I hope he feels that his people deserve to know the truth about the world like he does.
I didnt know they were even allowed 'Amusement' PERIOD in North Korea? Unless he took his old man's inheritance to have them built?
Normally the only images the US media use to represent the DPRK depict fortifications, weapons, soldiers or people in some kind of mass formation.
That visual stereotype is the pictorial component of the official anti-DPRK propaganda narrative, to which the empire's media unanimously conform.
Showing off his beautiful wife for the first time while touring an
amusement park is a clever move by Kim Jong Un. The imperial media can't avoid covering the story, but to illustrate even hostile coverage like this they have been obliged to make an exception to their rigid rule and display images from the DPRK featuring wholesome family fun instead of exclusively cold war themes.
Ah so CNN has photos directly from the heart of a place where photos are banned.. CNN is there something you want to tell us?
Yes. They want to tell you that the North Koreans approved of these pictures being given to media outlets around the world. Is there something you find confusing about that?

What's the point of being supreme leader if you can't get a lady without cankles?
Jeez, I can't believe I said that...
Show him at all his re-education camps. I bet there are no water parks near these camps to help the North Korean people who do not agree with him or his communist ways.
Why are we treating this guy like a celebrity? Everything he does gets international coverage which if he is anything like his father he adores. Let him actually do something good for his people and the Korean people as a whole and then treat him like a celebrity. As long as he lives in luxury and his military spending is huge while his people starve on mass I say give attention only to the threat he poses to the world.
Good point indeed; hopefully the new "style" will turn into the new "substance". Right now they are cautiously experimenting with some economic reforms; they have just implemented an agricultural reform by breaking apart the large farm collectives into smaller parcels and the state is now going to allow farmers to keep 30% of their produce plus all of their surplus crops to sell on the open market; up until now, they had to turn all of their produce to the state. The new leadership is examining how reforms have been working in Vietnam and is ready to take "baby steps" to trying them out. Of course, the proof is in the real rising of living standards and improving of human rights.
If he were so inclined, he could be an esteemed statesmen and the best thing to happen to the Korean Peninsula since the armistice.
All he has to do is open up. His people and the world would love him for it...
is it just me... or does he seem like a fairly nice person? at least on the surface?
nothing like that psycho stage queen of a father he had.
North Korea is working hard to promote that image of him. Don't believe everything you see in North Korean State released news.
Are you kidding? "A fairly nice person"? He is the third in a dynasty that rules over a country with an economic system so backwards, that they have still yet to recover from a famine that occurred in the early 90's. People in his country die in great numbers due to starvation and lack of even the most basic medical or sanitary devices.
There are continued reports of cannibalism in rural areas of North Korea due to a desperate lack of food. He stands at the helm of a country that keeps it's citizens from leaving through a brutally effective system of 1) a heavily defended boarder, with electrified fences and guards with standing orders to shoot to kill anyone in the zone (coming or going), and 2) several dozen death camps in operation throughout the country where he sends the families of people that try to leave, working them at manual labor until they die. But yes, other than these points, I am sure he is a much nicer guy than his father. With all respect to Shazoo and anyone inclined to agree with him, you should take stock of the the amazing freedoms that you all have had your entire lives and not wast your kind words on a blood and tear soaked megalomaniacal tyrant. You should use the amazing resource of the internet to quickly look up what the reality is actually like in North Korea.
yea don't judge a book by his cover, just remember who his dad was....it's all in his blood, he'll prove himself over time right now NK is more concerned with looking like it's stable....speculation and budget worries postponed their nuclear show for now so this makes for good cover......dont forget anything concerning the north korean leader is very carefully coreographed, it's gotta look just just right......those people live in constant propaganda
He spent a LOT of time in Westernized countries amp; loves many facets of those cultures, amusement parks in particular, so, no surprise to see him there instead of viewing passing tanks amp; marching soldiers. For his people, for all of us, let's hope!
Agreed. If he were so inclined, he could be the greatest thing to happen to the Korean Peninsula since the Armistice.
