Scores Killed in Latest Cairo Protests

Police open fired on protesters supporting ousted Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi early Saturday, leaving dozens dead. Conflicting reports of the number of killed fluctuated wildly. Reuters reported counting 36 bodies at one morgue, while Egypt’s Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim accused the Muslim Brotherhood, who estimated 120 dead, of exaggerating the death toll for political reasons. Egypt’s interior minister said only 21 people had died and denied that police opened fire.
