Just so happens he became Hitlers bodyguard and that's his life story. Winston Churchill, Franklin Roosevelt and many others throughout history have had bodyguards, too. Almost feel sorry for this bloke, that's the lot life gave him! He may be a regular guy who did his job and lived his life.

My grandpa and his brother were drug out of there house and told they were now members of the 3rd reich. My grandpas brother said no and was shot in the head on the spot. My grandpa, who was 16 at the time agreed (what kid wouldn't). He later defected to Ireland during the bombing raids on London (he was forced to be a bomber). How can anyone believe that they had a choice to serve. No more choice than the draftees. But at least the draftees just got jail and not death when they refused.

Interesting that the boiling frog experiment was conducted by a German physiologist in the 19th century. The atrocious Noremburg Trials and subsequent effects on humanity. it is amazing what people attempt to get away with and where they came from etc. This man is just a bodyguard and pales in comparison.

Not charged? Was he not charged with the gas bill? (Sorry, you did set that up)

Every man is responsible for his own actions. To hide behind the "I'm just following orders" is purely a cop out.

Do you guys do 10 seconds of research before you write stupid crap like this? He wasn'T hitler'S bodyguard... he was his telephonist. Yes, he was in the SS, but he was hardly riding in the car with hitler. FACT CHECKING IS YOUR FRIEND!

The problem is whether it was really their fault in the first place. The result is the result. So if hypothetically the entire world was brainwashed, the entire world were psychopaths? This could've happened to anybody. For example, if I subjected more people into a harsher Milgrim study, am I creating criminals on the spot? Would that be the criminal's fault or my fault? I feel in the end what matters is how much control the people had. What if you genuinely believed that Jews were the cause of all that was wrong with the world? You were trying to do good.

I disagree. There's no study that can assuage the anguish that was caused by those war criminals. Following orders or not, they all chose to be a part of the war machine.

He should be buried with millitary honours, he was just serving his country.

Can we have an ounce of compassion for people? Hitler was a horrible man no doubt but look at the results of the Milgrim trial. Tweak the settings just right and you force people to do horrendous things. Regular, non-psychopathic people like you and I, into killers. Don't think for a second that the majority of the Germans in Nazi Germany who either personally aided Hitler or approved of Hitler's actions were all bad people. Most of them were victims of the Hitler's mind-altering propaganda at the time.

Admittinly he lived longer than the person he was suppose to guard...so

Or he could have killed him and saved millions of innocent lives. Easier said than done, though.
