A massive typhoon that had prompted large-scale evacuations made landfall in eastern China Monday morning, killing at least two people.

Typhoon Fitow forced the evacuation of hundreds of thousands of people and has already caused $330 million worth of damage, BBC reports.

The storm, sending winds of up to 93 miles per hour and dropping about eight inches of rain in some areas, affected more than 3 million people, though it’s expected to weaken as it heads northwest over land.
