Multiple news outlets are reporting that Libya’s interim Prime Minister Ali Zeidan has been kidnapped by members of an unidentified armed militia.
The reported kidnapping follows the controversial arrest of a high-value al-Qaeda operative, Nazih Abdul-Hamed al-Ruqai, in Tripoli over the weekend by U.S. commandos.
While Libyan officials criticized the U.S.’s move, and demanded that al-Ruqai be returned, the country’s Prime Minster said earlier this week that relations between the two nations would not be harmed by the incident.
