Ali Zeidan, Prime Minister of Libya, addresses the 68th United Nations General Assembly at the UN headquarters in New York, September 25, 2013.

Multiple news outlets are reporting that Libya’s interim Prime Minister Ali Zeidan has been kidnapped by members of an unidentified armed militia.

The reported kidnapping follows the controversial arrest of a high-value al-Qaeda operative, Nazih Abdul-Hamed al-Ruqai, in Tripoli over the weekend by U.S. commandos.

While Libyan officials criticized the U.S.’s move, and demanded that al-Ruqai be returned, the country’s Prime Minster said earlier this week that relations between the two nations would not be harmed by the incident.
