A British man who called in a bomb threat at his own wedding was sentenced to a year in prison on Tuesday.
Neil McArdle, 36, was too embarrassed to admit to his would-be bride that he forgot to confirm the booking at their wedding venue, BBC reports. So he called the venue’s receptionist with the threat, forcing an evacuation and leaving the bride standing outside in her wedding dress.
“If it wasn’t so serious the facts of this case have all the markings of a comedy,” McArdle’s lawyer said. The judge called the case “extremely serious.”
McCardle had pleaded guilty. The couple is still together.
