A mother in Colombia has been accused of selling the virginity of her 12 daughters as soon as they hit puberty, for only a few hundred dollars each.
Authorities say Margarita de Jesus Zapata Moreno sold her daughters for sex as soon as they turned 12, and their virginity was sold to much older men for as little as $160, CNN reports.
Police learned of the abuse when one of Zapata’s 14-year old daughters spoke out after giving birth to a baby boy. The girl said she had been forced to have sex with older men, and that her mother pressured her to have an abortion.
Moreno denied the allegations.
