Storm Causes Major U.K. Transport Disruption

Highways closed, rail services and flights suspended, flood warnings issued

The storm pummeling southern Britain is causing severe travel disruptions, with highways closed and many rail services and flights canceled, BBC reports.

With gusts reaching 148 km/h, 12 flood warnings were issued in southwest England and another 146 flood alerts across England and Wales. The strongest winds are expected to have passed the country by lunchtime, and highways will be opened as soon as deemed safe.
