A powerful storm that ripped through much of western and northern Europe has killed at least 15 people across the region.

At least seven people died in Germany and four in England, and fatalities were also reported in the Netherlands, Denmark and France, Reuters reports.

In Kent, England, a 17-year-old girl was killed when a tree fell on her home. Along the French coast, a 47-year-old woman was found dead after being swept to sea during a walk.

With winds of roughly 100 miles per hour, the storm injured dozens more, and caused widespread transportation shutdowns and delays across the region.
