Israeli officials are upset with the Obama administration for confirming an Israeli Air Force airstrike Wednesday that targeted weaponry set to be transferred to Hezbollah.

Israel had not claimed responsibility for the strike on the Syrian port city Latakia, but a White House official confirmed the incident with CNN Thursday, noting the target was “missiles and related equipment.” Israeli officials called the leak “scandalous” and “unthinkable,” according to Israel’s Channel 10 TV, and a military analyst characterized it as “unfathomable.”

Israel had been accused of raids on Syria earlier this year in January and  May.
