The hacker collective Anonymous has increased cyber attacks in South-East Asia, with the government of the Philippines its latest target.

On Sunday, at least five websites belonging to public agencies in the Philippines were hacked and used to disseminate an appeal for people to join a Nov. 5 mass protest against corruption, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.

The government of president Benigno Aquino, elected on a platform of curbing corruption, is currently battling widespread accusations of misuse of public funds.

In the past week, Singapore has also been hit by several Anonymous attacks, in protest against the government’s Internet licensing framework, which came into force on June 1.
