A court in India has decreed that depriving your wife of sex is “cruel.”
The Times of India reports that a woman in Mumbai petitioned for divorce because her husband had refused to have sex with her over the course of their two-year marriage. She alleged the troubles began from day one, when she found her in-laws occupying the bedroom reserved for her wedding night. From that evening forward she claims her husband offered a string of excuses, from stress to unemployment.
“No party has the right to deprive the other from marital bliss without any justifiable reason,” the court ruled, adding that such conduct “amounts to cruelty.” The husband was also ordered to pay 300,000 rupees ($4,849) as a one-off alimony.
