Greek Police Clear Protesters From Shuttered Radio Station

Greek riot police on Thursday raided the headquarters of a public broadcaster occupied by former employees since the organization was shut down in June amid budget cuts.

Police removed about 50 former employees and other occupiers early Thursday morning and pushed back hundreds of protesters outside the building, AFP reports. Former employees had been running rogue broadcasts from the headquarters since the the group was officially shutdown to controversy in Greece.

“The police operation at the public broadcaster’s headquarters was carried out to implement the law and restore order,” government spokesman Simos Kedikoglou said in a statement.
