Toronto Mayor Rob Ford attends a council meeting as councillors look to pass motions to limit his powers in Toronto on Monday Nov. 18, 2013.

Toronto’s mayor Rob Ford, of crack-smoking, drunk-driving, profanity-using, red-faced fame, issued yet another apology on Monday for knocking over a city councilwoman.

The city-council chambers were in an uproar on Monday afternoon, as Ford spoke in his defense and then the council continued with a series of votes to systematically strip the mayor of all governing authority, National Post reports.

“It’s a coup d’état, that’s all this is,” Ford said upon arriving at city hall.

“You have just invaded Kuwait,” Ford told the council, in an apparent reference to Saddam Hussein’s ill-fated invasion that sparked the Gulf War.

As the voting began, Ford’s brother, one of his few defenders in public, exchanged words with a member of the audience. Ford then charged toward the spectators, in the process bowling over city councilor Pam McConnell, a grandmother.

“I apologize to anyone I accidentally hit when my brother was in an altercation over there,” Ford said.

This is the country liberals insist should be model for the United States ... socialized medicine, moral values and all.

"Oh my gosh he's attacked somebody!"  News commentators are funny, spewing drivel without truly understanding what's happening.

Ford was running someplace else, and accidentally ran into the councilwoman, and grabbed her to hold her up, and keep her from falling. That was very obviou.

The line "Oh my gosh he's attacked somebody!" is a laughable joke, and demonstrates just how given to histrionics the media is.

The one thing that you can credit Rob Ford for is showing us the true nature of Canadian society.

Canada is a corrupt country with laws stacked against foreigners, they bribe steal and cheat their way around the world while trying to feign decency.

If you are not Canadian and you do business there, you only have yourself to blame when they steal your money, business, customers and defame you. They even use the RCMP to threaten innocent foreign business people who try to attain justice in Canada.

Canada is one big off-shore tax haven.

The cold weather has turned them into animals.

Canada the joke is on you.

Late last week, in one newscast, the world saw San Francisco rally for a little boy fighting cancer ... and Toronto's Mayor Ford acting out as that city's #1 juvenile delinquent. What a contrast!

Wow... Why set the bar so low? Your comment sounds as dumb as this moron can ever be. It's all right if you're not in for "socialized medicine, moral values and all". But that doesn't mean that Canada is a dysfunctional and corrupt country (and certainly not any more than the US for that matter). But hold on tight: there are morons there too. One or two can actually get as far as to become mayors.

@mary.waterton Have you seen any US news lately? Ford's a frickin sideshow clown. In one Canadian city. We've got LOADS of them here, all over the place.

@mary.waterton Uhm....first of all, Toronto isn't a country, and second of all, it's the citizens that are removing the person whose moral values you seem to disapprove of, so they share yours apparently.  As far as socialized medicine goes, what is the infant mortality rate in Canada compared to the U. S. again? How much do we spend on health care per person compared to Canada?

@NFLcopiesWWE I'm pretty sure this story doesn't need anyone's histrionics. If anything, it diminishes the truly fascinating train wreck Ford is perpetrating all by himself.

@NFLcopiesWWE How many people who are aware of their surroundings and situations knock over other people, regardless of what their destination might be?  It sounds more like a sort of tunnel-vision in which nobody else really mattered.  It would seem that Ford runs true to form.

@AhnonIMaus Projecting the bad behavior of one man onto an entire country is like saying that every American mirrors Sheriff Arpaio, or Marion Berry of D.C.  It's the very quintessence of prejudice, and it's just not true.  Just as in any other country, there are the egregiously offensive, the statesmen, and the vast majority of in-between.
