After a July train crash in killed 79 people, Spain is now banning cell phone use by train operators unless it is an emergency.
Public Works Minister Ana Pastor said Tuesday that Spain is also planning to put black box recorders, similar to those used on planes, into trains so that it’s easier to determine what’s happening when a train is on the move, the Associated Press reports.
The driver of the train that crashed in Santiago de Compostela in July was going too fast, and was on his cell phone talking to a colleague right before the crash.
