Afghan policemen stand at the site of a suicide bomb attack in Kabul December 11, 2013.

A suicide bomber attacked a contingent of German troops near Kabul’s heavily guarded airport on Wednesday, but apparently caused no casualties.

Attacks on the airport, which is home to one of the NATO-led force’s most important bases, are relatively rare, Reuters reports.

Claiming responsibility for the attack in a text message, the Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid wrote that two German vehicles had been destroyed and “10 soldiers were killed and wounded,” in what appears to be a routine exaggeration by the terrorist outfit.
