Rockets fired from Lebanon set off two explosions in northern Israel, prompting a response from Israeli military and reigniting a longstanding feud between the neighboring countries.

The explosions rocked Kiryat Shmona early Sunday, but no injuries or damage was reported, according to Israeli police. No one immediately claimed the attack, but Israeli military returned fire, shelling the source of the launch, hitting a region around the southern Lebanese border area of Rachaya, the Associated Press reports.

“We will not allow incidents such as those of this morning to pass quietly,” Israel’s defense minister said in a statement. “I would not recommend to anyone to test our patience and our determination to protect the security of the people of Israel.”

The bordering countries have maintained peace since 2006, when Israel was at war with Hezbollah guerrillas in Lebanon. The incident follows the death of an Israeli soldier by a Lebanese army sniper earlier this month.
