Copies of the Guardian newspaper are displayed at a news agent in London August 21 2013.

After blocking the New York Times and Bloomberg websites last year, it appears the Chinese government has now taken umbrage with Britain’s left-leaning daily the Guardian.

Representatives from the publication said that their website was initially blocked by the “Great Firewall” on Tuesday, according to Reuters.

“The reasons for the Guardian block are unclear — no China-related stories published by the Guardian in the past two days would obviously be perceived as dangerous by the country’s leadership,” the U.K. newspaper reported.
