French President Francois Hollande visited the French First Lady in the hospital for the first time since she was admitted on Thursday.

According to the Associated Press, Valerie Trierweiler was hospitalized Jan. 9, after gossip magazines reported Hollande was having an affair.

French officials have said the First Lady had suffered a “crisis of nerves” and had been admitted to a hospital for rest.

Trierweiler’s representative told the AP that her condition was improving.

Closer magazine published photos that allegedly show President Hollande leaving the home of his mistress, 41-year-old actress Julie Gayet. On Thursday, Gayet filed a lawsuit against the magazine for breach of privacy.

According to recent reports by Closer, Hollande and Gayet have been “in love” for two years.

The AP reports the presidential palace declined to comment on the new allegations.
