Violence continued to plague anti-government demonstrations in Bangkok when two explosions wounded 28 people Sunday.

The blasts were caused by fragmentation grenades exploded in the north of the city about two minutes apart, one near a stage set up by protestors and the second near a row of vendors selling anti-government T-shirts, the Associated Press reports.

The protestors are trying to overthrow Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra’s government ahead of a Feb. 2 election and in an ongoing struggle that has pitted the country’s majority rural poor, who support Shinawatra’s government, against an army-supported and royalist urban-based elite.
