Workers build flood walls around the home of Sam Notaro in Somerset, England on Feb. 10, 2014.

Residents impacted by record floodwaters in a low-lying part of the U.K.’s southwest are using this home as a symbol of defiance against the Environment Agency for not dredging the nearby river. Sam Notaro, who¬†built and owns the house, spent thousands of dollars to protect it and reportedly remains inside despite evacuations and a breach of the barrier.
