Western envoys have told Syrian opposition leaders to expect a strike against government installations within days, Reuters reports.

Reuters cited an anonymous source who attended a meeting Monday in Istanbul between the Syrian National Coalition and Western supporters of the opposition to Syrian strongman Bashar Assad, including U.S. envoy Robert Ford. Word of an imminent strike comes as the Obama administration has said it’s “undeniable” Syria used chemical weapons in a deadly attack last week and other Western powers agitate for some sort of response, even as Russia, Iran and Syria itself warn against intervention.

“The opposition was told in clear terms that action to deter further use of chemical weapons by the Assad regime could come as early as in the next few days,” the source said.
