The French Navy said Thursday that it made a record cannabis seizure when it intercepted a ship Sunday carrying nearly 20 tons of the drug, worth up to $66 million, AFP reports.
The eight-member crew on the Tanzania-flagged ship set the drug on fire before the French navy approached in international waters north of Algeria.
The crew faces up to 10 years in a French prison.
