A parody video, satirizing the idea that women are to blame for rape, has gone viral in India. With over half a million hits in just three days, the video, by a comedy group, All India Bakchods, features Bollywood actress Kalki Koechlin sarcastically “explaining” to women that rape is their fault.

At one point in the video, Koechlin wards off her attackers by calling them “Bhaiya” (brother) — a reference to a comment made by a religious leader last year, who said that the Delhi gang rape victim should have called her attackers “brothers” to avoid being raped.

The hard-hitting video satirizes many other such bizarre comments made by India’s political and community leaders over the past year. Their remarks have linked rape to everything from eating chowmein to using cell phones.

“Every sexual assault case in India inspires a string of stupid and hateful remarks against women,” the intro to the video on Youtube says. “This is our response to those remarks.”
