NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden’s father, Lon Snowden, landed in Moscow Thursday and told reporters that he intends to “learn more about his [son’s] circumstances and his health and to discuss legal options.”
Snowden Sr. said he had not been in direct contact with Edward but hoped to see him “if the opportunity presents itself.” He thanked the Russian authorities for guaranteeing his son’s safety and freedom. Edward Snowden’s lawyers say that the former U.S. intelligence contractor may hold a press conference soon, the first since he was granted asylum in Russia on Aug. 1.
