The mother of an American imprisoned in North Korea for nearly a year will visit her ailing son Friday, his sister said, according to the BBC.
Myunghee Bae, the mother of Kenneth Bae, was allowed five days in North Korea.
Kenneth Bae, a Korean-American who is said to be a tour operator and missionary, was arrested in Nov. 2012 and sentenced to 15 years of hard labor, accused of plotting sedition. He was transferred from a camp to a prison hospital two months ago because of his deteriorating health.
“I don’t really know what to expect for my trip. All I know is that I want to see my son,” Myunghee Bae said in a video statement posted Thursday.
