A Milan court ruled Saturday that ex-Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi should face a 2-year political ban stemming from his tax fraud conviction, which must be approved by Italy’s parliament.

Sentencing errors originally led to a 5-year ban accompanying Berlusconi’s conviction and 4-year jail term, the Associated Press reports.

Berlusconi’s lawyer has said he will appeal the ruling.
