Two days after a newborn baby was pronounced dead at a hospital in eastern China, a funeral home discovered on Wednesday that the baby was in fact alive.
The discovery prompted authorities to revoke the license of the physician who mistakenly declared the boy, who suffers from severe deformities, had died. He remains in critical condition, the Associated Press reports.
A statement issued by the health department in Anhui province identified the doctor, of the surname Cha, and called the newborn division of the provincial children’s hospital chaotic.
