An Indian magazine editor accused of sexual assault was briefly detained by police in Goa before being granted bail. Tarun Tejpal, who denies the claims made by a female former colleague at Tehelka, was arrested and questioned by police shortly after he arrived at the Dabolim airport on Friday.

He had been summoned to appear before police in Goa for questioning over the incident, which is alleged to have taken place earlier this month at the magazine’s annual conclave in Goa. “I got summons so I am heading to Goa,” Tejpal said to reporters at Delhi airport before boarding the plane.

Tejpal has stepped down from his position at the investigative title over the scandal, which has been dominating headlines in India. The alleged victim has also resigned from the magazine.
