An American chemistry teacher at the International School in Libya was shot and killed in Benghazi on Thursday.

A security official told the Associated Press that the man was jogging when he was shot near the U.S. consulate, the same site where the U.S. Ambassador and three other Americans were killed last year. The teacher was Ronnie Smith, 33, principal Peter Hodge told NBC news

It’s still unclear who was responsible for the killing and why he was targeted.
