Air traffic control glitches have halted flights across the U.K., delaying and grounding hundreds of flights through most of Saturday.
National Air Traffic Services (Nats), which handles air traffic in the south of England, reported technical problems that have affected Heathrow, Stansted and Gatwick airports, causing delays of more than two hours and canceling one-fifth of flights, The Guardian reports. Delays persisted at Europe’s busiest airport, Heathrow, where several dozen flights to Nice, Milan and Istanbul were cancelled.
A Natas spokeswoman said the glitch was connected to voice communications, including the telephone system.
