The hand puppet appeared in a television commercial, ostensibly to pitch Vodafone’s cell services, but one Egyptian blogger detected a more sinister motive: A Muslim Brotherhood bomb plot.
The New York Times reports that Egyptian prosecutors have hauled in the makers of the commercial for questioning after a blogger by the name of “Ahmed Spider” saw hidden messages in the commercial’s props and script.
That four-armed cactus in the opening shot? It resembles the spires of a mosque where hundreds of Muslim Brotherhood members were killed, the blogger argued in an hour-long television presentation of his findings. Egyptian Vodafone dismissed the allegations as “mere imagination.”
