Two managers held hostage by workers at a Goodyear factory in France were released Tuesday after the police intervened, the AP reports.

The employees of the factory in Amiens, Northern France took the drastic step of holding the director and head of human resources hostage, after negotiations to keep the plant open faltered and the workers demanded larger severance payments.

But a dozen police showed up Tuesday, and two went in to secure the release of the managers, the AP reports.
