Bernard Hill (L), actor of captain Edward Smith in the 1997 Titanic movie, shakes hands with Su Shaojun, CEO of Seven-Star Energy Investment Group (SSEG), during a news conference in Hong Kong January 12, 2014.

A Chinese company is aiming to rebuild the Titanic more thanĀ 9o0 miles from the nearest ocean in a theme park in central China.

In Hong Kong on Sunday, Seven Star Energy Investment announced funding plans for the $165 million dollar replica, while a U.S. company has been tasked with designing the historic craft, according to Reuters.

The replica will be permanently docked on the Qi River at a theme park in landlocked Sichuan Province and will even simulate hitting the iceberg that famously sunk the ship on its maiden voyage in 1912.

“When the ship hits the iceberg, it will shake, it will tumble,” Su Shaojun, chief executive of the Seven Star Energy Investment Group told Reuters. “We will let people experience water coming in by using sound and light effects … They will think, ‘The water will drown me, I must escape with my life’.”

Er, sounds like fun. The project is expected to wrap in approximately two years time.
