A heap of previously unpublished letters by one of the most infamous Nazi masterminds of the Holocaust was printed in the German newspaper Welt am Sonntag Sunday.
Photographs of Heinrich Himmler, an SS Nazi leader, with his family during a fishing trip, feeding a fawn and taking a bath in a lake are shown on seven full pages of the paper in photos, the Associated Press reports. The paper also quotes love letters from Himmler to his wife.
The documents, which came from Israeli film director Vanessa Lapa, who has made a documentary based on Himmler’s letters, have been independently verified.
Sunday’s installment is the first in an eight-part series.
