Heavy winter storms in Japan have claimed more than 11 lives and spurred officials to cancel flights over the weekend, according to the BBC.

Excessive snowfall caused roofs to collapse, while drivers were stranded on clogged roads as 3 ft. of snow blanketed large swaths of the country. Nearly a foot of snow reportedly covered Tokyo on Friday and Saturday.

The weekend’s storms followed an earlier blizzard that also killed 11 and injured approximately 1,000 people last week.
