In 2012 Liu Han was ranked 148th on Forbes' list of the richest Chinese businesspeople.

Liu Han, one of the richest businessmen in China and ex-head of the mining giant Sichuan Hanlong Group, has been charged with murder, intentional injury, organizing a crime gang, illegal detention, extortion and casino crimes.

According to court papers, since 1993 Liu Han has run one of the largest criminal organisations in China. The billionaire was charged together with his brother and 33 other gang members in connection with nine murders among assorted other offenses.

The gang allegedly operated in the Western China’s Sichuan province, where Liu Han was previously a delegate of the political advisory body. Liu Han was detained last March in Beijing during the National People’s Congress.
