The United States has pledged $380 million in relief aid to Syrian civilians beleaguered by the the civil war raging across the country, bringing the total humanitarian aid committed by the U.S. since the crisis began to $1.7 billion.

Secretary of State John Kerry made the commitment at a donors’ conference Wednesday in Kuwait, as United Nations secretary general Ban Ki-moon’s announced that $6.5 billion was needed to provide food, water, medical care and shelter for the estimated 6.5 million civilians that have been displaced within Syria, the New York Times reports.

Kuwait pledged $500 million at the conference, while Saudi Arabia and Qatar each pledged $60 million.

Giving millions to other nations actually saves us money!  Yep, giving taxpayers money away is cheaper than taking it outside and burning it.  Imagine the smoke plumes that would happen.  Then the EPA would get involved, and that would cost us more money and get some more regulations.  By simply giving money away, in hopes of buying off Israeli enemies, is actually environmentally friendly!

Many a time I have been called a TROLL, because I don't agree with most of the "HELP" that the USA government spread to the world.  Most of the time the help from the USA to the civilians come after the USA's intervention through its military has left these same civilians in the state of practically indefension with no possessions. Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam, etc, come to my mind.

Now, using the Arab Spring, the USA saw the opportunity of eliminating another strongman, Assad, that was causing too much problems to its putative daughter, Israel, and allying himself with their supposed enemies, Russia, China and Iran. From the very first minute of the uprising in Syria, the Americans and their allies in the NATO cabal, abetted the terrorists. Now, that their allies(USA ALLIES) and Assad practically have destroyed one of the ancient countries with its ancient treasures and leaving millions of refugees, the hypocrites come with a package of DOLLARS to " HELP" to the ones that they helped to put in this situation.

    Look what is happening in Iraq in this very moment. Are the American's hands clean? Who started this with the '' MISSION ACCOMPLISHED'' showing. Same history, different times, same results, and so on, and on, and on. Use the money on your own citizens that are being deprived little by little of their protection and leave the world with its own evolution. What do you think the world is: A plant? A domestic animal?

I know of some people here in the US that need some aid.  $380M could

feed a lot of US citizens!  1.7B could reduce poverty. Saudi pledges 60M..how generous.

We have to stop being Big Brother to the world and take care of our own.  Yes I know that

the poor people need help...let it's neighbors take care of it or not.

@disinterested3rdparty What? What do you mean by burning the money?  Spreading the wealth around in your own country is burning it?  By simply giving money away doesn't  buy you, or keep your friends either. 6 billions a year to Israel has not bought you its loyalty, if you don't believe me, just read what the Israeli minister of defense said about Mr Kerry, or see what the policies of the Zionist state are about the land stolen from the Palestinians and that is against the policies of the USA through the years. Has Israel abided by the policies of the USA about this particular case? I can cite cases where the Zionist state has embarrassed the visit of americans governments envoys with its behavior in this matter.

@statingtheobvious2025 Tell the rich minority in your country, that possess the big capital to keep their hands out of the Piggy Bank (the world). You can do this through your supposed elections, but sadly it will never happen with the only 2 parties that fight for your votes. In the end everything comes to the same results, because the two parties are of the same texture and ideology, the only difference is in the Names.

@patvin29

We're not a broke country.  Everyone who has been saying that is flat-out lying.

We are a rich country who prefers to take money from it's tax payers and give it to people in countries that hate us (including Syria and Israel).

Our "leaders" call this foreign aid.

But put money into a fund to help feed the poor in THIS country and you're called a marxist/socalist.
