The Leak: Through World War II, Ethel and Julius Rosenberg leaked U.S. military secrets regarding the workings of the atomic bomb to the Soviet Union. A co-conspirator, Morton Sobell was also part of the conspiracy.
The Outcome: The young couple was tried in 1950 by a federal grand jury and executed by electric chair in 1953. Sobell was sentenced to prison and served more than 18 years in Alcatraz and other federal prisons. However, he maintained his innocence until 2008, when he admitted to being a Soviet spy.
