French President Francois Hollande

French President François Hollande achieved record low approval ratings in the latest poll released Monday amid rising taxes and a sluggish economy.

The Socialist president’s popularity dropped to 26%, the lowest percentage in the 32-year history of the survey conducted by french firm BVA and the first time a president’s ratings have dropped below 30%.

Among right wing voters, 97% of respondents had a negative view of Hollande—a record high among supporters of the other parties.

Hollande, who beat incumbent Nicolas Sarkozy in 2012, has seen his popularity plummet since the election.
