More than 1.9 million people were without their homes after Typhoon Bopha’s torrential rains hit the Philippines in December. The storm came just months after storm surges, landslides and massive flooding displaced 1.5 million people. Last year, the country experienced its highest-level of disaster-related uprooting in five years, with about 3.9 million people forced from their homes.
